Brand Assessor — Privacy Policy

Last updated 1 September 2026

Brand Assessor is a Chrome extension for Brand Direct students. It reads the Amazon product page you are already viewing and returns an assessment of that listing. This page explains exactly what it handles and what it does not.

What the extension handles

DataWhyWhere it goes
The Amazon page you are viewing (ASIN, title, price, rating, review count, category) To assess that listing — it is the whole function of the product Sent to our backend to produce the assessment
Your Brand Direct Tracker sign-in token So we know which student is asking, without a second password Stored in your browser; sent to our backend as your identity
Your email address (from that sign-in) Identifies your account and your support requests Our backend
Your Amazon Selling Partner token — only if you choose to connect To answer "can I sell this?", which Amazon answers per seller account Stored encrypted on our server; never shown in the extension
Feedback you type into the feedback box To answer you and fix the product Our backend

What it does not do

Connecting your Amazon account

Connecting is optional. You authorise it through Amazon's own Seller Central consent screen — we never see your Amazon credentials. Amazon returns a token, which we store encrypted and use only to answer eligibility, offer and fee questions for listings you look at. You can disconnect at any time from the extension's popup, which deletes the stored token. You can also revoke access in Seller Central under Apps & Services.

Service providers

The assessment is produced using Amazon's Selling Partner API, the Keepa product-data API, and Anthropic's Claude for grading listing copy and images. Listing data (public product information) may pass through these services to produce your result. Data is stored in Supabase (Postgres) and the service runs on Railway.

Retention

Assessments and feedback are kept so you can see how a listing changed since you last looked. Your Amazon token is kept until you disconnect. Ask us to delete your data and we will remove it.
